Martin Sirot-Smith was curator of Sulgrave Manor, near Banbury.
He has made a special study of the Washington family that gave rise to the first president of the United States, and anyone interested in the history of Drayton St Leonard will know that the family (Dandridge) of Martha Dandridge Custis, George Washington's second wife, came from our village.
I am told that Mr Sirot-Smith talks very entertainingly on how this family rose from its 12th Century beginnings, so do try to come along on Friday 21st!
