Hello family. Iīm one of the Mexican Scougallīs, my cousin Alejandro Ruiz Scougall has already contacted you. I just wanted to clear up certain things that he did not.
In Mexico we use the motherīs surname for the first generation, thatīs why he said his name was Alejandro Scougall, but actually his name is Alejandro Ruiz Scougall.
Our great grandfather was the one who came directly from Scotland, from Dalkeith, whose name was Peter Scougall Fairley, he came to build the drainnage system of the cities of Puebla and Oaxaca. He was the progenitor of my grandfather named Alejandro Scougall Acho and of his grandfather named Jaime, and all the mexican Scougalls. My grandfather Alejandro Scougall Acho was named after his grandfather Alexander. He is the first truly mexican Alejandro Scougall. Alejandro Scougall Acho had three children, the last one was also called Alejandro Scougall Alonso, who also had a son called Alejandro Scougall Withers. The three of them are really called Alejandro Scougall as the surname passed on the male side. Not like my cousin Alejandro Ruiz Scougall whose surname Scougall is after Ruiz and therefore his descendants will not be called Scougall anymore. This is also my case. This doesnīt mean that he or me are not a Scougall. As we arenīt too many we all know each other in this city called Puebla. But his real name isnīt Alejandro Scougall, and as there are already three Alejandro Scougallīs I felt the need to clear this up. Iīm the son of the first daughter of Alejandro Scougall Acho who was the first son of Peter, called Alicia Scougall. My mother and Maria Eugenia (mother of Alejandro Ruiz) are cousins in the first degree. Peter Scougall Fairley had 12 children, 8 boys and 4 girls. But only 5 survived to have children, and those children had mostly daughters, who have spread into 3 cities. Puebla, Toluca, and Mexico city. In Puebla only my cousin in the first degree Alejandro Scougall Withers, will pass the surname on to his children. Also in Toluca there are cousins who will pass the surname on to their children, but unfourtunately they are also women in the majority. All of us are really proud of our Scottish origin and of what Peter did for us. My close family have been in contact with my grandfatherīs cousins in Scotland and in England that have now passed away. Hopefully we will keep on meeting new family members. Have a nice one, love to all of you from the Mexican piramids.
