Some of the very early (large and slow) yachts used jibs but as speeds have increased (greater than actual wind speed) and the apparent wind angle has decreased, this will negate any use for a jib except in very low winds.
A jib gives you in effect a very large and full sail.
We need for high speed small and flat.
