Has anyone tried making a set of skis for an ice boat
There were a few good ice days where I live then the snow and freezing rain hit, that ended the blades so on went the wheels but they broke through the crust in some spots, while struggling to get it going a cross country skier passed by so it got me thinking.
Any thoughts or anyone who has played with the idea I would be happy to hear from

Im looking round the web to get ideas for my ice boat project. Here around Stockholm we have had about 3 months of good ice this winther. Both sea and lake ices. I am going to build the boat around Mr Bernt Stymer's ice boat kit with windsurfing gear. The result will be more or less like the iceboats I have seen on your site. Mr Stymers kit is also sailing in the north of sweden (above the polar circle) sometimes with skis. Here are some links:
Hi Brian,
I am wondering if you came up with a solution to putting skis on an ice boat. I myself have been trying to come up with this solution myself. It seems every year the ice around us gets covered in snow before it is even safe to ride on. I have tried putting skis on an old Skimmer, but after going a few feet, the rear skis would slide out. I think if I would have put the skis at an angle and put small blades on the skis it might have worked, but haven't taken the time to try. The other idea was to put a ski on each side of the blade with only like an inch or two of the blade showing, but haven't tried. I think it will work, but haven't had a chance to try it yet. Having 2 kids, no freetime, a low budget, and no work shop has limited my opportunity to work on this. I am working on building a boat that just uses skis and an old Sunfish rig. I haven't started yet, but will keep you posted of any success.
