Upon first glance, a child or the ignorant might percieve these images as morbid...I know this because I lived several years in a house with a poster of (Escalator) on my wall and it intrigued me by that same threat. The more it scared me, the more I stared at it; until I accepted it, and rationalized my own meaning from the irrational image. I am now in love with Scott Mutter's unique artwork, and astonishingly, my favorite piece of his is the revolving door from the grave- quite probably the most surreal and dark of all his works.
