Hey there. Here are some in progress pictures of the 1/72 VAB I'm currently working on. The kit is by Heller and lacks a lot of detail. I decited to rebuild most of the upper hull and add an interior while I was at it. I will add the bench seats after I've painted the interior. I'll leave the doors and hatches open so at least some of this will be visible. I haven't yet done much on the exterior, but I'll be using the etch set by Extratech, as well as the resin wheels.

Any comments or advice is welcome.
Christopher

Very good start

Hi,
your model is going along well. A few points though :

1.the wooden slats in the troop compartment should be parallel to the vehicle hull not perpendicular,

2.the wipers engine are set a bit too high and should more resemble a box than yours. Here is a picture of the right side one.

Anyway, you're modeling from the Heller 1/72 kit and it's already a feat !
If you need more pictures, feel free to have a look at my site below.
Cheers

Thanks Olivier

Hi Olivier,

Thanks for your advice. I've been drawing extensively on your website for interior images of the VAB. From all the images there, and your models, I can tell you quite familiar with this vehicle. However, I'm not quite sure what you mean about the slats in the rear compartment. The pictures I found on your website shows them going across the vehicle. Particularly:

Thanks for taking the time to comment. I'm kind of pleased that these are the worst mistakes you found!

Christopher

Stupid me !

You're fully right. I don't know why I made that silly comment !!
The duckboard (wooden slats oor English from me !) is in the right direction. However it is made of two parts, one on ech side of the compartment with "slots" where the seats legs make contact with the floor itself.
I apologize for misleading you !

Keep on your good work.
Cheers
