M4A1 Sherman

Hi. I am a newbie here. Just completed a Tamiya 1/48 M4A1 Sherman after 7 years of completing nothing.

It has PE parts and a metal barrel from Lion roar, hedgedrow cutter and the Browning M1917A1 .30 cal, from Hauler.

I am not sure if the .30 Cal. was ever mounted on Shermans but have done it any way. Just for fun.

I want to thank 2 of my friends who have guided me thoughout the construction and painting process. They are Dinesh Ned and Bernard Cher. Especially, Bernard, who "threatened" me with a Brachiosaurus if I did not complete the model. Not forgetiing Yee Soon Tuck who have taken all these beautiful photos for me. Thanks guys.

Hope you'll like it.

For our comments please. Regards.

The Duke

Hi Calvin,
Welcome, your tank looks great, a couple of small points; the unit codes on the front should have the division and battalion on the left (as you face the tank) and the company letter and tank no. on the right. This is the official position, however that is not to say they cannot sometimes be reversed, it looks like you have them right on the back. The Tank Commander's hatch has a rectangular bump pad and this would usually be khaki or black, but not painted as it was fabric. Many Tank Commander's preferred the .30 cal for it's ease of use and quick rate of fire so no problem there. I like the mud on the hedgecutters and transmission cover and the stowage well tied on the back, well done! Now all it needs is an aerial.
Best regards,
Paul.

Great finish

I really like the finish, very impressive!

I concur on the reversal of the unit insignia. The .30 cal mg was used in some cases, but not the water cooled version you've mounted, as it used a watercan connected with a hose to the cooling sleeve. Not very practical on a tank.

best regards,

Marc Brandes

Well spotted Marc, can't say I noticed, I have seen the water cooled one on a H/T though.
