Finished my M2A2, It was an easy and fun build, straight from the box.
Figure and stowage are Tamiya and Real Model.
The model will be part of a small dio which I hope to finish soon.

Thank you all for looking, your comments and tips are very much appreciated.
Happy modeling,
Jan

Came out nicely...

May 9 2008, 3:47 PM

It looks good. The finish and weathering came out nicely. Only a couple comments. The gear needs some straps. How it is now on the back deck, it would fly off when the vehicle moved, esp. the 7.62mm ammo cans on the left rear. Also, I'm assuming by the sign that it is supposed to be in Iraq, in OIF ('03 to current). If so, it is not the right version of M2A2 Bradley. The current version in the M2A2 ODS (ODS representing modifications based on lessons learned in ODS) or an M2A3. The Tamiya M2A2 ODS kit builds into a fairly accurate modern Brad as of about 2003. The older M2A2 kit you used is correct for an Operation Desert Storm (ODS, '90-'91) vehicle. Check out the below article by Pavel to see some changes/upgrades to be made to the Tamiya and Academy kits to bring them up to date and add some detail. Pay special attention to the ODS Supplemental for the most current modifications.

Don't get me wrong, it is a great looking and well built model. It is just not accurate for a current Bradley in Iraq since 2003. If you remove the sign, it could be a Bradley in ODS since the kit decals are for that conflict as well.

Nice work on the thing looks great.
Nice to see an OOB without 5 sets of PE on it and one that comes out so good.

Thanks for sharing.

Thank you Jeff

The kind words are really appreciated!
You know it was really big fun to build it this way (for a change) whitout all kinds of upgrades. My experience is that this is a kit that really can do whitout all the extra stuff.

Kind regards,

Jan

Jan this came out great!! I know nothing about modern armor but this I like. The worn paint on the front I am assuming you used graphite? The figure is tops also. Great painting and all around A+. Great post.

Hello Bob

May 10 2008, 4:15 PM

Thank you so much for the kind words !
You know I try to do something different now and then, so this time I wanted to go for some modern armor, next time, well...
In the mean time I added some more straps to the model as Gino suggested, I think that will be as far as it goes for the changes, I'm afraid to do more bad than good so..
Next step is to finish the little dio with the burned out humvee, should not take so long (but it's so hot and sunny here in Brussels, it's hard to concentrate on modeling, not to mention working)

Have a great day Bob,

Jan
