Things are really going along quickly on the kit. The Eduard Zimmerit set is VERY easy to use.
I also made a new gun for the kit using some parts from Lion Roar and Evergreen tubing.
Hull rear with zimmerit added. The lower part was a bit tricky to fit. It got bigger when I applied the glue... fit fine during test fits...
Left side of the superstructure. The side Zimmerit is scored on the back for beinding to match the angles on the superstructure. I lost the small Zimmerit panel for the fan housing... but it fit very well before I dropped the assembly. I glued the big Zimmerit panel in place with CA glue... wasn't too hard.
The right side of the superstructure. I used Gator Glue on this side to see if it was easier/harder. Both Gator Glue and CA worked well... Gator Glue is much more forgiving IF you make a mistake. The etched zimmerit around the gun collar fit perfectly over the kit plastic collar and bolt detail.
Rear of the superstructure. The Zimmerit here is in four parts (plus two small pieces on the bottom not yet installed). The left and side panels need to be bent, but aren't scored. I glued the bottom half first with CA glue, then applied some CA inside the top and bent them into place. The kit doors fit nicely into the holes cut in the Eduard Zimmerit. The Zimmerit on the doors fit perfectly.
I dressed the edges of the panels with some brushed on Gator Glue to fill any minor gaps and to blend the edges a bit.
I bought a nice Lion Roar gun barrel but its for an "early" Brummbaer, despite the description saying it fit the Tamiya kit. I made a new collar from Evergreen tubing. I got the beveled front edge by wrapping tape a couple mm's back from the edge of the tube, and then filing in the bevel with a fingernail file. The brass part shown is the Lion Roar barrel jacket, which is too short for this version of the tank. Basically I made the same part, just longer. The ball mount for the gun is the resin Lion Roar piece. It took a little minor filling to add the plastic jacket. The kit gun is shown for a comparison... its underscale and spindly.
