I have to thank Mike Rinaldi for the inspiration to start this project. I also need to thank Bud Highleyman for reminding me to start working on it again

Any comments, suggestions, or criticisms welcomed.

Thanks for looking!

The tamiya's bottom dosen't even come close to that.
Whoa...thanks for the picts.

Both yours and Mike Rinaldi's build look stupendous. I just hope that I can get mine close in quality
and imagination.

You're going in the direction that I imagined the flat top would look like.
But at the same time, I think Mike Rinaldi had the right idea as well by covering the drivers and
radiomans positions - Be a real drag to have one of the arty guys fall in the hole during the heat of battle.

Again, Thank you very much.

Its a rare occasion that I can add anything to a discussion on this board. Thanks for the kind words. if anything the bottom is easier than round panels right?
and yeah I couldnt decide on open or closed tops, but the original pic looks like the soldiers foot is blow hull level, so i took a guess and subsequently had to build an interior lol. i wish I had seen the drawing you posted, as I'm sure I would have gone that route.
keep me posted!

Greg

Nice

I like your take on the gun deck. From the picture of the G.I. sitting on what appears to be one of these vehicles in a junkyard, I think you have the right idea. It always looked to me like there would not just be a flat surface with the pedestal in the middle. How did you accomplish the worn look on the blue-colored part?

thanks

Yeah I'm still torn on the platform, but it makes the most sense to me from a modification depot/rush job standpoint. and the gun deck is actually sanded back down lol. It was blue with hand painted lettering, then worn areas sprayed with brown/black, then drybrushed with rust/oxide. I decided to repaint and do it in reverse.

flame-cut edges

Love the flame-cut edges. The piece of steel with the civilian paint is also a nice touch.

Sincerely
