Hi Folks

Just finished this newest kit from New Connection, which includes Friuls and metal barrel

The build was easy, except for the tracks - these had to be drileld out as the very thin brass wire is so weak that he bends by the slightest touch when putting the links together.

Painting is done with Tamiya acrylics. The look of slightly rusted steelplates was done with a lot of Mig Pigments.
The Groundplate is Verlinden cobblestone, painted with Oils.
The figures are two each from Mini Art and Warriors all four painted with Tamiya acrylics while the skin was painted with Vallejo Panzeraces.

If anyone is interested in more info ... here: http://www.panzer-modell.de/berichte/128mm_watr_borsig/waffentraeger.htm

very realistic indeed !

And it's a NC kit ! I see you have no fear wink.gif Let me say that I have had different experiences with NC, but nevertheless this is a very cool subject !

Great work, I love the look of the steel plates. These late war 'what if's' are very rewarding projects.
One tip for the fruil tracks, discard the wire provided, and use 0,5mm brass rod instead, that way you won't have to drill all the holes, and it will not bend as easy as the soft wire wink.gif

Friuls

January 1 2009, 11:43 AM

Hi Jan,

thanks for the hint on the Friuls, but I already thoght of it BUT the problem is that the holes are MUCh smaller than the 0.5mm. That is the first time that I saw this small diameter soft brass wire and the corresponding small holes in a Friul Track.

But anyway - thanks for the nice comments on my model.

Best regards

Thomas

Happy New Year Thomas,

That is an excellent result that you have achieved, the effects of the bare oxidized metal, the Gun, the wheels and the tracks, set off your hard work, excellently. It looks really nice.

I must admit that I have never really had a problem using the supplied wire with fruils and find the process very painless, except that is when trying to hurry and try and push the wire with a bare fingertip. It might be soft, but it can go into skin quite deeply........lol

I look forward to your 2009 builds.

John

Hello Thomas,

nice and rare model you're shown here. I agree to the really good looking rust-effects. Also, it's a very high level on modeling for the rest.

And don't forget your meaningful article on "panzermodell.de".

BR Erik
