MERDEC M51 Dump

Well I have been kickin' around the MERDEC deal for a while and thought here is the perfect truck for it. I based the pattern of the paint from a site I found and got kind of close. I know those paint jobs weren't always perfect so this is what I got so far. The kit is Hobby Fan.
Weathering is next and also some doo's and dad's, and I know one of the wheels is askew and there is some touch ups for the paint. Everything is loose to break it down for finals. I have put a target on my head for all the slamming I will get, so have at it. I hope you like otherwise. Superdope

Nice job Anthony! Always nice to see some good old MERDC. I've always had a fondness for it and i have a few projects up my sleeve that will use it.

Hello Anthony,

July 2 2009, 11:06 PM

That is a beautiful representation of the summer green scheme. It sure brings back some memories of seeing dump trucks just like the one you have modeled. Occasionally, I still see a track, trailer or some other piece of equipment still painted in one version or another of the MERDC camo.

Both you and Brian have done better than my attempts at this lovely pattern.

Did you free hand the sand and black or did you use a stencil?

Thanks for sharing this beauty,

Allen

A little too clean for a dump truck!

Very nice work and it's inspiring me to break out my Real Model conversion and build one.

MERDEC madness

July 3 2009, 2:15 PM

Like I said, tight camo man--tight camo...the weathering is going to be fun on this one. And careful you might start a new MERDEC trend.

Talk to you soon.

Best,

Mike

Anthony,

Nice dumptruck you build there but like already said it needs some dirt.
Or you can make it look wet like it just ran of the wash station wink.gif

Gr,
Marcel
