Got some paint on my RA M109. The old Italeri kit with some minor surgery and a few additional scratchbuilt details. The tracks are AFV Club individual link and while they may not be precisely correct they are all I could afford!

Looks Great

This looks great - I love modern artillery and you have done this one proud - The sight and details on the turret make a huge difference and the removal of the bow under the turret front makes it look heaps better. Great job

Best regards

Ian

Looks good

it looks very nicely done. However, I have to ask if you are going to dirty it up a bit? You have done good work with the old kit, a bit more dirt on it will help make it stand out more, IMHO.

M109

Thanks Sean. No I wont be adding any dirt. Two reasons, firstly having taken care to build the model I dont see the logic in hiding it under muck. More importantly the RA had (have) a reputation for keeping their kit smart, and indeed in my search for reference pics I only found a few dirty vehicles, all on exercise/live firing with the appropriate external stowage and clutter.

Really nice effort on your M109A3. Excellent details you have added to the Italeri kit.

Sorry, but that's not an A3.

What you have built is a very nice M109A2. A3s were rebuilt A1s to A2 standards. If it was an A3 it would still have the gear for the flotation set up, that you removed. Great build, just wrong designation.
