I built this model using Tamiya BT-7 parts & resin hull by Rhino + many other aftermarket & scratchbuilt stuff.
The markings belong to Spanish Nationalist Forces that used trophy BT-5s taken from Republicans. Red & yellow stripes are their distinctive markings.

Article about building & painting was recently published in AFV modeller magazine, issue 65.

I just watched a movie called "There be Dragons" that occured during this time.

It had a few tanks in it during battle scenes between the two sides. It's not a war movie per say, more about Saint Josemaria and his early years and escape from Spain during the Civil War.

Your model and that movie has inspired me to tackle a Spanish Civil War tank. Great looking model and nice mud!

Thanks for posting the photos.

Aloha,
Val

Ilya.... thank you, for wanting to make a tank of one of the saddest pages in the history of my country ... have been more, but maybe that's the latest ...
your BT5 is a great model, and i dónt understand how so little has been mentioned here ...

after, I'll send you an email to ask you a few things about your tank, if someday I decide to follow in your footsteps ....

regards

You're right Luis, Civil War is really dramatic and sad thing.
Feel free to email me! And if you have any photos of interesting Spanish T-26 markings - they will be appreciated wink.gif

Love this scheme

Great BT5, I envy you that you managed to have a Rhino conversion in your hands, currently I happen to be working on one aswell but alas can't trace a Rhino conv anywhere so had to go to resolve to the old habit of mine and try to get it out from the only game in town, the old horible Zvezda one, but with patience, lots of updating and surgery I am moving ...

Just one small critic, not be a nit picker but Nationalists had the habit of painting the roof or the top hatches in white with a black X on [arial reco], saying this from the few fotos of BT around there is no confermation that all had the top painted white, on T26 it is more covered ... so maybe any Spanish readers will highlight this better ...

Hello, Ivan & thank you! I bought the Rhino hull fromhttp://www.a2zeemodels.co.uk/ in 2011. Unfortunately they don't have it right now sad.gif Think one can found it on ebay )

I know that some Nationalists' tanks carried St.Andrews cross, but doubt if all of them did it. I hope that HobbyBoss will go on & offer single turret T-26 as a base for those markings)
