Prepping photoetch

Hello Guys!

Quick question... has anyone used anything other than light sanding to prep photoetch? Any vinergar or some light acidic liquid to give a bit of bite to the PE?

I gotta be honest... I forgot to give a really light sanding to a couple of PE panels (skits) on a kit I'm working on, and the are already installed, so a sanding stick is out of the question.

Anyway, thanks for any feedback/recommendations!

Regards,

Jorge

Here is a photo-etch idea that works for me.

Hello Jorge
I agree once photo-etch is in place your only left over option is to lightly coat the work with a thinly sprayed layer of primer. One thing that seems to work and hold well is to spray primer on your photo-etch before you remove it from the fret, to include to bake the photo-etch for 30min or more if you wish. The primer when baked on will be very resilient and stay on the photo-etch and handle great when you use tweezers or other tools. Hope this helps.

Mr Metal Primer

Gunze's Mr Metal Primer product works well. Not sure what it is, could well be an acid. You paint this clear liquid over the etch, let it dry, then apply paint. Seems to improve paint adhesion alot.
