"I STILL don't see what you're talking about..."
August 19 2012, 3:00 AM
Looking at the 2 men with sheepskin coats on, I can almost hear the one with the binoc's saying "O.K, I understand that YOU see it, but I STILL don't see what you're talking about..." Or even BETTER yet... "I'm telling you there IS a bathroom at the next exit..."
My .002...
Matt

Great Scene and Weathering-- A Question Though
August 20 2012, 9:35 AM
Really great scene and impressive paint/weathering job. I really like the terrain effects-- both the base and carrying up to the the AFV; really get the idea that the beast traveled through all that muck. I would be curious in how you did the puddles with thin broken ice-- that really captures how I have always seen those icy/muddy puddles. Really well done!
Ok, now the question, and partly for my own reference and potential future build of my Final Tiger I:
You obviously built a Final Tiger I-- based on the thickened turret roof armor and the mono-sight.
Are there any historical references or photos that would have a Final Tiger receiving a white wash in 1944?
If I remember the historical records correctly (Jentz, and sorry don't have the book in front of me now), the Final Tiger Is were initially built in late February 1944.
Figure some time for deployment, I just wonder whether any would have arrived to the front line troops with snow still on the ground? Or, whether any would have survived until late 1944/early 1945-- and the troops would have taken the time to white-wash the beast.
Again, I really like the concept of a white washed Final Tiger-- definitely different from the Normandy setting I was speculating.

I cant answer that John, I knew there was late Tiger 1,s on the Eastern front but i must admit i am not a historian and i may get details like this wrong.Turret details i am not that up on what went where. I saw some Tigers in a book of mine, they were late tiger 1,s on the Eastern front and thats what i went with.I would never pretend to get every nut and bolt correct as this is just a hobby to me and i dont take every detail into consideration. I will try to get obvious things close to what is correct and i am sorry if this one falls below the level of correctness.Andy.

Great Build- No Criticism was Intended
August 20 2012, 7:01 PM
No apology is necessary for that beast.
Like I said, great build and painting/weathering; no criticism of the final product was intended. I was just curious on whether you had dug up any references as I think that is a unique approach-- and something that I had considered but alas I could not find any historical references.
Like you aptly said, it is a hobby and the goal is to enjoy it. I hope you did with your build.

Thanks for your message. I have loads of pics of late tiger 1,s on the Eastern front in late 44 to early 45 in whitewash.not sure about turret details though from pics, I didnt even think about that level of accuracy. cheers ,Andy. A
PS yes i did enjoy it ,it was loads of fun
Seriously, I can't think of a name, but the crew really looks like they would just like to find one little warm/dry spot in a sea of mud. Maybe they've spotted a Gulaschkanone in the distance...
