Here are a couple of projects I am currently working on.

First one is the Dragon SU-76i with extras. The base Dragon kit is a disappointment. The new casemate is a mess so I replaced it with the MC resin conversion. The detail is nice but it is sized for the older Dragon kits. Since it was never going to be that accurate, I decided to model it as re-captured and put back into service with the Germans.

Resin Casemate - Masterclub
Tracks and spare tracks - MasterClub
Fenders and buckets - ET Model
White metal tracks - Master Club
Side Stowage boxes - Aber (set for T70 light tank)
Barrel - RB Model
Cast Drive Sprocket ModelKasten
Stamped Drive Sprocket - from a Dragon StuG III Ausf A
Cast Return Roller and Damaged Road Wheels - Panzer Art
Stowage - Value Gear and misc
Cable clips and Jack Mount - ModelKasten
Ammo Box - MiniArt
Anything white is styrene

I've also built the MiniArt Su-85 Early Production mostly OOB except for a few extra details. The brass PE is included with the kit. I replaced the kit grab handles with brass wire as the sprue attachment points are too large and too numerous. A new Aber barrel is on the way since the kit one lacks rifling. The kit tracks are very nice but the attachment pins are very small and tend to get crushed. The kit has plastic tow cables so I replaced it with copper "cable".

Alternate wheels - Panzer Art and Dragon, Based on photos
Stowage - Value Gear and misc
Copula Applique Armor - styrene sheet with epoxy welds

Both are ready for primer once the weather cooperates.

Thanks for looking,

Bryan

These is more examples of the

kind of model you almost hate to see painted because of all of prep work that has gone into them.

I'm going to use the 76i as an example when I have to give a demo on detailing a model at our local show next month.

I love russian SP guns, very neat builds.

Tow cables are self-maded?

The tow cable for the Su-85 is self made from fine wire I stripped from a power cord.

The SU-76i cable is a spare from a Voyager PE set.

I both cases I used the kit plastic towing eyes.

Very nice work and quite inspiring!
I placed an order last week and included Dragon's SU-76i with the cupola and the Cyberhobby SU-85M, so your models are a nice point of reference!

Keep it up, can't wait to see more!

The SU-76i tracks look a bit loose to me; can you remove a link? Or maybe just move the slack to the upper run😉

1 less is too tight. I looks like factory fresh tracks. I've seen some photos recently of a Stug with a bit of a front sag like this coming off the drive sprocket. I'll try to tweak it before final assembly.
