I know that the Italian government always is debating with the Croatian parliament over Dalmatia. But, what do the Croatian people think about Italy?

I do not remember many Croats posting something here.

Still, I think that they are grateful to Italy, for helping to bring war, death, and poverty to their lands , once again.

Excuse me one bit! Croatia is at fault for all Italian-Croatian hostilities! Ever since the unification of Italy, Croatians have been attacking Italians in Dalmatia and Istria. We stopped the slaughter after the German-Italian invasion of Yugoslavia, where Italian troops also saved Serbs, Jews, and other non-Croats from barbarian Ustasha. But after our surrender, Croatia continued attacking Italians, and purged 400,000 Italians, destroying the former Italian majority. We left a major influence on Croatia, they should be greatful. They brought about their own destruction, Italy had nothing to do with it. One day, Italy will get revenge on Croatia, I promise you that. It will take nothing for Italy to defeat Croatia outright in war, we could sieze all of Dalmatia and Istria within one week. And to defeat Croatia? Oh please, the country that was almost completely destroyed because of a Serbian rebellion within their lands! HA!

Dario Azzurro is right on most of his modern history. The Italian army on the whole behaved properly in Yugoslavia in WW2. They also tried to stop the anti-Serb genocide in Kosovo in 1941, but were unable to do much more than truck the survivors out. The army saved Serbs and Jews from the Ustasha. The army saved thousands of Jews from the Nazis, against orders from Rome. That's where the problem lays. Rome supported the Ustasha in the 1930's. Rome and Berlin attacked and destroyed the peaceful Kingdom of Yugoslavia. Rome and Paris entered the Yugoslav conflict under the pretense of peace-making in 1991. Rome and Berlin went back to supporting the reborn Ustasha. NATO could not have attacked Yugoslavia without Aviano and Italian cooperation. There was no Serb rebellion in Yugoslavia. THere was an Ustasha rebellion in Croatia, armed and financed by the West.

Rome today is responsible, with the other NATO pirates, for the destruction of byzantine churches and monasteries, and for the ethnic cleansing of Kosovo. A nice army, but what good is it for, if it cannot stop a mob of a couple of hundred jerks armed with bats and a few guns? It's only good to make Berlusconi's business associates wealthier.

I'm Serb and I know whats happening here for last 1000 years.It's not truth that Italians were saving Serbian people.They were
destroing us with Ustashas and Albanians.Together.Italian troops were occupy Kosovo in 1941.During WW2 Italians were made their administration.
Musolini's army was banished Serbs.Actualy,they were whatching how Albanian slaughters killing Serbs.Serbs were weak,again.

My mother is from Lika.Their family name was Rapaic.Do you know how many Rapaics are Croats today.

before war in 1991.Ustashas resumed their job after WW2.Yougoslavia after (and before) ww2 was mask."United brotherhood" of comunists,with Tito on front,was mask for stupid Serbs.
Everyone who was Serb and who was singing Serbian national songs(for exemple) was Great Serbian Nationalist and he gone to Goli Otok.Every Serb who told that he is Serb,every sign of Serbian entity was killing by communists.Goli otok is island in Adriatic sea,on Croatian territory.This was the biggest „factory of death“ for Serbs.Goli otok was like any other natsy or Ustasha’s camp and worse.Someone can tell now that this was not camp of Croats,Communists did that,but this is not true.Only Serbs were „guests“ of this island,and only Croats were working there.Method of torture was identical like Hitler’s method,and worse.Serbs were eatitng stone,patrolers of camp were raping them...They were killing each other for food,and for it’s own life.People whose survived are frustrated.They can’t tell anything about that,because they are affraid!?20,30,40 afther that( 20 years after communists) they are still afrreid.During this time Croatian’s churches,schools,their cultural and national entity was intact,just growing up.


The problem of Croats and Italians is just case of Croatian greed.They are not satisfied only with Serbian land,they want more(Slovenia,Italia,still Serbia).

His nation has been under attack by the West since the Austrians grabbed Bosnia in 1876. Still, TAK does not know every detail of Serb history. While Rome was guilty of destroying the Kingdom of Yugoslavia, the Italians hated their Ustasha allies, and preferred their Chetnik enemies. The Italians saved many thousands of Serbs from the Ustashas, and delivered them to the Chetniks. That was not done under orders from Rome, it was done because the Italians hated the whole vile business in Bosnia, Croatia, and Kosovo in WW2. Read Curzio Malaparte's "Kaputt". That's where the story of Pavelic's basket of Serb eyes comes from.

Is there a good book about the mandatory conversion of Dalmatians from Orthodox to Catholic? Source in Serbo-Croat is fine. By the way, I have not received as yet any information about TAK's grandparents in Obilic. Without detailed information, history is forgotten.

I am a Croat. We like Italy. I have read how everybody thinks that Croats attacked Serbians. We did not attack. Many Croats had gone to war to defend Croatia from the Serbain army becouse Serbs wanted our land. We were under constant attack from Italy ( WWII ) and Serbs ( 1995 ). Please do not belive what Serbs said.

Perhaps Croat Mario is Dalmata or Istriano, a conquered and assimilated Italian. The assimilated are always the most patriotic, just like Starcevic, son of a Serbian mother. The most devoted haters of Slavs in Trieste had Slav grandparents.

Sure, the Italian government wanted to conquer Croat lands and the Croat government wanted to rob Italians. In the end, Croatia won and terrorized hundreds of thousands of Italians out of the homes and farms they had owned since Illyrian times.

Exactly the same thing the Starcevic boys had started doing to their Serb neighbors, under Hungarian rule at the turn of the century, and again, with great success, in 1941 and 1990.

Rape, murder, and pillage, normal activities in borderland regions, especially when we are guaranteed that God is with us, "Gott mit uns."

Fortunately God was mit Deutchland and mit Croatia and mit Cardinal Stepinac, and all their history and sins were forgiven.
