I did not quite understand u - public survey among Kosovar Albanians - 95% for independecy. Of course - what other option do they have? But most of them do not have a clue what independance mean at all. What will be your counrty based on? Where will the budget come from? U have no economy, at least 60% of unemployment... Ths r facts. If beeing a state at this moment and NATO UN, ect left, u would be lost.

I beg to disagree. The noblest and best armed amongst the "Gosovars" would not be lost at all, they would immediately get back into the pillage business.

They would fall upon the unarmed minority communities--the Serbs, the Gorani, the Turks, the Ashkaelia-- and achieve wealth and success. Imagine what a rich "country" they would have if they could just get their hands on the old furniture and bicycles of the surviving Serbs, on the surviving horses of the Gypsies.

They could also kidnap all the pretty Gypsy girls, who would be exported into NATO's countries. Once there, the lucky girls would be sold to the heroic liberators of Gosova. All of NATO's great nations, who have given so much for the freedom of Bosnia, Croatia, and Kosovo, should they not also profit a little, from all their sacrifices? Yes indeed, and the girls would get to enjoy the blessings of democracy, and Gosova would soon become the richest little country in Europe.

Albanian society is not so different from that of other countries: most people work hard for little pay, and a few thugs prey on the rest. The most clever ones rise to the top and hire relatives to carry out criminal activities.

It's very different in the better controlled parts of the Free World: our noble Leaders, men of the caliber of President Izetbegovic, or President Tudjman, or President George Bush, or President Soeharto, or President Mobutu, they don't waste their time stealing girls to sell them as slaves, and make thousands of dollars. No,they just issue military and oil contracts to friends and relations, and make millions of dollars.

Instead of running drugs, they issue licenses to drug runners and slave dealers who do us favors. Typical favors: to organize a strike to overthrow a government; to set out bombs in the streets, in a country chosen for destabilization; to kill an inconvenient journalist. In exchange for services, the order is issued to look the other way when the boys send their drug planes in.

That's a much easier way to get rich. Try it, you'll like it.

Related to the economy of kosova since many of you seem conderned,even if they fall to the level of Somalian tribesmen(no offense to the Somalis i just mean the poverty of the rural areas)they would not get back under Serbia(i just remebered an expression of the late dictator of Albania,may he rest in peace,"we will eat grass,and we will drop blood" although I think the president was a prick this might come to be true).
Related to the ethnicity problem,I think that kosovars as any other people are not clever enough to see past revenge,so if you can't hit the horse at least hit the donkey,in this case the kosovarian serbs(for whom I am terribly sorry,or at least for those who deserve compasion).
Anyway what does serbia need Kosova for anymore,or it seems they havent had yet enough trouble.
