| As usual I tell about various actions of supporting of Serbs and Kosovo by fans of Spartak Moscow football team.
The game was in Tomsk. ( BTW, it is about 3500 km from Moscow, Siberia)
About 800 Spartak fans came to the city to join the team.
They settled on 2 sectors of the stadium. During long time in 1-st and 2-nd half one group shouted "Kosovo est.." and the other responded: " Serbia"/ Also a big banner was installed as usual with the same words.
Almost half a year has passed since Kosovo self-proclamation. In spite of very hard situation in football team and in the country itself, fans do not forget to support their brother people ( if the goverment is frighten to do that - who else to do it exept them?) |

I strongly believe they do that to put up a show. Most of them most likely don't know where Kosovo is in map. However I wish they do the same thing for Republica Srbska and Krajina, especially the last one, it is forgotten now.
Although Banja Luka is peaceful now, it is hurt by Radovan' arrest. He is the one that was manipulated by Milosevic and left alone to deal with his mistakes, totally alone. Milosevic paid the price but I wish he never had that power each he misused it.
Sometime I feel my city to be portrayed the same as Radovan. It is left alone to deal with its destiny.
I feel sadness that this ended up in this way. People split apart.
We could have done better then "being happy” with soccer fans putting up the show.
Wars split people and make borders permanent by displacing people from their own home.

Of course it's a show, football is a show, but sportmen are those who tend to go volunteer.
Remember Vronsky, going to Serbia at the end of Ana Kerenina. |

But that's not a sportsmen story, but a commonpeople!
Football stadium - just a place, where young people are organized and emotionally free. End all the non-football events - are overview of peopl's mood and ideas. Events in Yougoslavia are very important to Russian people indeed!
BTW, I am from people who don't belive in role of personality in history. It was not Putin who coursed a kind of turnover in Russian politics course against west. He is a reflection of people's mood.
I remember the times when all the american were taken as very progressive and positive. And americans really were supposed to be allies and new-type friends of new life ( that was really not just politicians' mess - common people oppinion!).
And one day it's started to change. And had been changing very fast.
This day was NATO's Belgrade bombing satrt.. | |
