Recently converted my 49 B-1 parking lights to accept two-filament bulbs (I wanted to separate turn signal and parking lights). Thought it would be a destructive and aggravating chore requiring cutting, drilling, etc. Surprize! The existing single element socket is just soldered into the parking light bucket. With a little portable torch, I was able to heat the solder and tap out the old socket. Got two-filament replacement sockets off-the-shelf at Pep Boys for about $3 each and put them back in the same hole. A little heat and solder and presto--back in business with two-filament lights. Wish everything was that easy!

Hi Ken,

My truck had a dealer conversion where they added the turn signals to the truck. The job wasn't done to badly overall. I need to look at my sockets one of these days to see how they did it. Of course that will have to wait until spring when I can get to all the parts...!
