Recently got the rubber fender filler for my '49 half ton (fills gap between top rear of front fenders and cowl). What holds these in? I have about a half inch gap there and the filler is not much thicker than that. Is the filler glued in? or, Is the gap supposed to be smaller so that the filler kind of "snaps in?" Thanks.

Most guy cut an inverted "V" section out so it will curve smoothly along the fender. Friction holds it in place and the bolts going through the material. Some guys use 3M weatherstrip glue to help position it on the fender before it is bolted up.

Thanks, but although good info, wrong fenders. The stuff I'm talking about goes on top, rear of front fenders just in front of door leading edge. I like the idea of the glue on the welt--replaced welt on a previous vehicle and recollect having a heck of a time holding welt, fender, bolts in place and tightening nuts at same time.

Thanks. My truck didn't come to me with the fender fillers but I can see what looks like staples still on the fender edges in that location. Appreciate the info.
