Great Site !!! I have a 1950 Fargo (I'm told it's the same as the dodge except for the emblems) Thecab is almost ready to paint . I need to find the gaskets that go between the front of the fenders and the grill. The parts book refers to them as seals . Roberts Motor Parts sent me fender welt for it but it doesn't look right. The welting sticks up above the fenders and is too far from the origanal look for me .If I have to make them from gasket material is there a special type for this application ? Id love it if I could just buy the right thing . Can anyone help please ?Thanks!

814-467-9842, 1/8 thick by 3/4 up to 2 inch. They use the same stuff on the (3/4 inch) toe boards to prevent rattles.

Reg. I'm real close to replacing my 49's front fenders as well and haven't found a source for replacement seal. Is the stuff you found rubber or felt? Seems to me this seal ought to be rubber (or vinyl). It will be exposed to weather and seems less likely to retain water versus a felt seal. Can anyone enlighten me?

Its rubber, confirmed by the parts book. I found a small piece on a spare front clip. The sample I have is about 1/16 thick, but that was in a truck for 50 years. I would try a 3/16 or 1/8 rubber weatherstrip. Can't say for sure on width, but at least 3/4 inch (my sample is 3/4 wide but is torn, I would guess at least 1 inch wide.) Restoration Specialties has a 1/8 X 3/4 and a 1/8 X 1-1/2 rubber weather strip which would probably be a good replacement. I checked Metro and Steel and didn't find anything similar. You would need to mark and punch out the holes for the bolts.
