I know there are a lot of purists out there and it is great that you are doing your thing. I have always been a hotrodder and I like doing my thing as well. Anyone interested in hotrodding your Dodge truck, I would be glad to share chat and photos of the past 5 years of a complete makeover of my 51 B3B, currently in the paint shop for mild customizing and paint. It currently has a fresh 1972 318 industrial motor with 340X heads, 3 dueces, 727 torqueflite trans, (Ford) 8" rear end with 4.11 posi, Hedman Hustler competition fenderwell headers, Volare front suspension, power steering and 4 wheel disc brakes, tubbed bed with 3.75 Protrac monster tires under the rear. custom dash with Classic Instrument gages, Lokar floor shifter, and custom 5 point tilt steering. Drop me a line and share your ideas, photos. I'll do the same. Howard

Howard, my name is Floyd Emery and like you, I enjoy hot rodding. I really enjoying hot rodding Mopars. My 49 pickup has a '87 Dakota frame with IFS, power disc brakes and power rack and pinion steering. The engine is a new 402 Magnum crate engine (360 w/ a 4 inch stroker crank and 435 hp). The trans is a 5 speed stick with overdrive. The rear end is out of a mid 70s Dodge station wagon. That is the basis for what I hope will be a statement for what can be done using Mopar parts. I was glad to read that you keep a Dodge engine in your truck. Last year I ran across a 37 Dodge flatbed (nice) with a F&%#@d engine in it.

The body is off and completely disassembled...blasting, sanding, priming, etc. The cab will be set a little lower that original and the front clip will be tilt. I plan on Autometer Olde Tyme gauges, Dakota steering column and air conditioning to complete the interior.

I have used the serpentine belt system from a 2000 Ram 5.9 engine complete with the new generation alternator, power steeting pump, and A/C compressor. The last major components to get will be a Holley Commander 950 multiport fuel injection system with 36lb/hr injectors and a MSD 6AL ignition system. Due to the limited space I am using stainless steel shorty headers, 2 1/2" exhaust and Dynaflow mufflers.

This is my first time on the Pilothouse Forum. I make a much better gearhead than a computor geek. Torque wrenches are user friendly, not computers. Seriously I would be interested in any input from you or anyone else interested in the hot rod aspect of our hobby. I may even learn how to send pictures.

Look forward to hearing form you. Floyd

Glad to hear from someone else that is a streetrodder. I would like to see some pictures of what you have done. I will return the favor. My 51 B3B is currently in the paint shop. All of the body work and mods have been completed. As soon as it is block sanded the sheet metal comes off and I bring the chassis home to finish while they throw the color and custom flames on it. Then it goes back to be put together. Send respone directly to me EMail at HZ99@cox.net, thanks.
