According to the number stamped on the block of my 1950 Fargo one ton, the engine should be 228 cubic inches which is, I suppose, the equivalent of the Dodge 230 cubic inch engine. However, it is the long 25 1/4 + - block. Does anyone know what the options are to increase the size of this engine by swapping cranks, rods, pistons etc? Would it be possibe to turn it into a 251?

Dave,

Unless they used different engines in the Fargo's, it doesn't make any sense. The 1 ton Dodge trucks have the 230 cid engine which is actually 230.2 cubic inches and it would be the shorter block. Does your engine's number begin with a "T"? If not it may have been replaced with an industrial engine. If you can post the actual engine number maybe someone can trace it's origin.

You might find some information at http://dodgepilothouseclub.org/index.htm
or you may also try the forum associated with that site too.

Good luck
Merle
