Blowing black smoke and how I fixed itby (no login)Hi All, I live in the UK, and bought a Surf 2.4TD in July. It was due for the MOT test to be renewed this week, and it failed on the emissions. The exhaust was blowing some black smoke when revved or under load, ever since I bought it. It being diesel, I assumed this was normal, but at the MOT the emissions were running at 7% (what, I don't know). Anyway, took it in to have the injector pump reset. Now the emissions are 0.72%, and it flew through the MOT. Fantastic as i'm sure you'll agree. The only problem is the loss of acceleration. It can't have lost much, and I can live with it, but it wasn't great in the first place. Any ideas, short of putting the injector pump back to the previous settings (I don't consider this an option!). Cheers, and a Merry Christmas to all.
