Buying a Surf-What should I look out for?

Could anybody point out things to beware of when buying a Surf. The model I'm looking at is a 92 with the 2.4 turbo Diesel donk. It has 114k on the clock and seems respectably quiet for an oiler. Also I am aware that being an import makes getting insurance a bit more difficult. Does anyone have any experience of getting insurance for these things in NSW? Any comments would be welcome. Particularly w.r.t the vehicle as a long term prospect and as far as parts and running costs in Australia are concerned.
