Help!!! Toyota A/C compressor question

I am putting A/C in a 1992 with a 22RE motor.
All my parts went right in accept for the compressor. (All parts are used). The compressor mount has a pulley which matches up perfectly to the pulley on the crank. However, when I bolted on the compressor, its pully was about 1 1/2" to far forward. Whats the problem? Is there another compressor with a shorter front? The compressor mount/pully went right on and it seems it can only go one way, plus it matches prfectly with the unused groove on my cranks pulley. It must be the wrong compressor, but I can only find one make. Is there another!!!
