Overheating

I would check the thermostat. my a 2.8 diesel had a worn out thermostat. Going Up-hill the temp would rise under load, going down-hill (coasting) the temp would go down. I replaced the themostat and now the temp stays the same all the time no matter what temp conditions or engine load.
