Surf Overheating at Idle

by Randal (no login)

Your overheating problems are highly sympomatic of a problem with the radiator cooling fan clutch. The silicone fluid in these units tnds to leak out over time. The result is that the fan cannot draw enough air through the radiator when the vehicle is stationary and therefore the engine can overheat.

You can renew the silicone fluid in the fan clutch with Toyota part # 08816-10001. Get your cylinder head checked for cracks to be safe.

Cheers,
Randal.
