What do I need to buy for a 2 1/2- 3 lift?

I recently just got into suvs. My only other car that I have ever owned is a BMW, so Im a little lost. I have a 1997 Toyota 4runner limited. I love it, but I want it to stand out and be different. I would like to put 31 to 32 inch tires on it, but in order to do this I must get a lift. I have seen lift kits on ebay and other places for 275.00 to 400.00, but even with the discription I dont know what Im buying. Will someone that know what that talking about please email me (bimmen04@yahoo.com) and let me know what I should do. I have heard that there is a body lift and a suspension lift. I have also heard something about spacers. My 4runner will very rarely go off-road so I dont need the type that is best for off-roading. I would just like a 2 1/2 to 3 inch lift that will provide a comfortable ride and enough suppport so I can to 2 4wheelers or 2 jetskis with out looking like I have a backseat full of old fat women.
