1995 Toyota Landcruiser engine light problems

The engine light keeps going on. The engine appears to be operating properly. Initially thought it was and O2 sensor problem. O2 sensors were changed and light still goes on. A mechanic advised that the catalytic converters might be bad.
Any suggestions as to how the problem can be corrected?
