4 Runner Fasterby RJSurf (no login)These cars aren't built for speed, but I have found a few things that can help: Check the oil level, if the oil level is just above the minimum marker, the engine seems to rev a bit more freely, it definatly bogs down when completely full to the top mark, or if you've just topped it up and the oil hasn't settled. Wait for the engine to heat up properly - don't hammer it when it's cold unless you want a cracked engine head (£2000 with parts and labour). Aftermarket Turbo controller - a small electronic device that plugs into the engine management and allows you to tune the turbo profile so it kicks in earlier or later in different gears - careful though, you're definately going to stress the engine with this mod. Check your air intake and turbo hoses don't leak - mine did and performance suffered until I got replacements (£cheap). Get the wheel allignment and tracking checked (£25 job at any decent tyre place) - these things have big wheels and it can make a hell of a difference. If none of the above help: Take the spare off. Kick out any passengers. Find a steep hill and a tail wind. from IP address 195.157.150.101 Goto Forum Home |
