toyota hilux 2003 3.0lt td fuel consumption

hi there, 2 weeks ago said goodbye to my 2000 hilux 4x2 2.7 l 5sp man and said hello to a 2003 3.0td, dual cab. had some extras with it, tbar, bull bar, side steps, snorkel, put a carryboy canopy, ordered a few extras to allow me to work and play. testing the fuel consumption, not happy, 60lt = 371 km. Now that is 16.17lt/100km or 6.18 km/ltr.
getting more educated about diesels every day, but not convinced. i hear the turbo kick in but i also hear some weazing with the turbo. I did 50/50 city/country driving. some say air filter, fuel pump, turbo compression???, Its days away from expiring warranty, boys at toyota will have a look next week, but wanted to know your thoughts and how much does your 2003 lux drink?
