I personally use 10W-30 here in CA. I'd say if you lived in an area with freezing winters then definetly go with the 5W-30, but in the absence of that, I'd use 10W-30. However, I don't think you'd cause any damage with the 5W. If you're worried, I'd suggest using half 5W-30 and half 10W-30 from the same manufacturer.
