RE: 4Runners-2WD

I don't know if they were available in second generation or not. They have been available in the third generation since 96. Their appearance is the same as the 4WD. With 15 in. wheels, they are the same height. With the optional wheels, Toyota lists 0.8 in less ground clearance. I have never lokked closely at the front suspension of the 2WD as mine is 4WD, but it is described as the same in Toyota literature, just minus the front drivetrain.

ps. Are you the same JD that was trying to find the location of a transmission control computer on one of the other forums? If so did you ever find it?
