NEWS FLASH - READ THIS

Some of you will be aware that I have been looking into installing a locker into the front of my IFS 4Runner but I also wanted and needed to retain ADD "shift on the fly". The only current semi locker units available for the IFS 7.5" are the ez, truetrac and lockright but they do not allow the use of the full ADD "shift on the fly" feature. However, my research indicates it is not impossible to achieve.

Part of my research also included discussions with ARB on the use of various parts to assist in this excercise.

However, consequent to several discussions I had with ARB on the lack of an "open" locker for the IFS Toyota and the benefits that this would provide to wheelers and to many other 4wd users that encountered situations in many instances where a locker would be of great benefit, I received a phone call from ARB and I believe this news will be welcomed by many.

"Mr ARB" has now decided that he will make it a lot easier and ARB will produce an air locker for the Toyota 7.5" IFS.
Is that great news or what !!!!!!

However, due to current research and development committments it will not be possible to commence R&D on this until at least 5-6months, but all going well we could see a front air locker for our IFS Trucks and Runners by years end or a little later depending on the complexities. There is a difficulty in overcoming the air supply via the needle row bearing for the ADD but I am sure this will be overcome by ARB. I have some ideas on this and will discuss with ARB as well as be possibly providing an IFS front assembly for R@D purposes.

I believe many of you will see the benefits of having a "open" centre gears in the front of your IFS trucks with the ability to engage or disengage a full locker as required and would hope that you will ultimately support ARB in their decision to development such a unit. It will give you many options that were not previously available. You will be able to keep full ADD and shift on the fly as per normal, but have the added benefit of a full locker being available at the push of a button as is required. Manual hubs could still be used.

Start saving your dollars. I for one can't wait.
I will keep you posted.
