mike---they'll just say its "normal"

mike,

the dealer will just say "its normal." well, truth be known, all toyota 4runner shifters will move. however, from the sound of your response, it sounds like you and i have (had) the same problem.

i had a service technician, the dealer customer service manager (you know, "mr. smiles" until you have a problem), my salesman, and the district service manager all drive my former 4runner. they all agreed that my shifter moved more than "normal", but it was "normal." i wasnt happy and nor was i going to be "happy" with my former 4runner.

so i asked for a more objective, quantitative measure of "normal." they couldnt give me one. it was all b.s. to force me to "accept" it.

in the end, after one too many dealership agents and salesman b.s'd me about talking with the General Manager, I called the GM (By the way, the GM never talked w/ the saleman).

after much teeth pulling, the dealership gave me my deposit back.

if you are not happy, ask the dealer to take your car back and exchange it for another one. they do it all the time, but they hate to do it. and if there is anything to learn from my experience, call the dealership GM first. everybody else will try to b.s. you into keeping your unsatisfactory 4runner. hey, you paid >$30K for your 4runner---it should be perfect!

gimme an email w/ your phone number if you want to chat.
