98 4Runnerby (no login)Hello everyone, I am glad I am not the only one that has a shifter problem. I bought a 98 4Runner 6 months ago and did not have any problems with it until last month. I was driving on the freeway and heard a noise when I was slowing down. My shifter was moving and making a noise. I took my car to the dealership to get it checked out and they told me the same story "it's normal". I was not satisfied with the responce that I got from Don Mc.Gill Toyota so I called Toyota direct. They told me that they were going to contact the dealership and have the service manager take another look at it. I alreay know what his answer is going to be. I really don't have time to be playing games with the dealership. Do you think that maybe Toyota or the dealerships are trying to cover something up? Maybe they know that the shifter is faulty and do not want to recall the SUV? This is just speculation but the shifter problem to me is "not normal". I have owned several cars and some less expencive than a 4Runner and never had such a problem. I am trying to get consumer report to look in to my situation. Maybe then will Toyota do something about this. from IP address 12.73.231.171 Goto Forum Home |
