Tornado / ? Hycloneby Ken (no login)G'day David If the Tornado in the US is the same as the Hyclone in Oz (vortex generator that fits in the air intake after the filter, read on, and this is for Diesel only, though is relevant to injected Petrol engines. I'm interested in these things but really don't understand their diesel application too well. I understand that the idea is to increase air density / fuel mix and allow for better dispertion within the combustion chamber therefor more complete combustion and more bang for your buck. HOWEVER, in any fuel injected vehicle, you have an atomised fuel and air mix to a preset particle size, so how does the hyclone benifit with this? Any vortex effect would be negated by the injector spray pattern, which is different to each individual vehicle depending on condition of injector nozzles. I've seen the reports, and there was a positive write up in Overlander (or the like) some years ago of a Tojo. I think I'll have to bite the bullet and fit one (but they reccomend two), as if it's no good, there's a 30 day money back offer. I just don't want to muck around if it doesn't work. If you buy one, please post the results on this site. Best wishes and hope this was of help. Ken. 91 SSR LTD from IP address 144.138.87.17 Goto Forum Home |
