91 Toyota Lancrusier will not start.by (no login)I have a 91 Lancrusier and it will not start. I checked the fuel pump and it was OK and when I checked for spark, there was no spark. I checked the coil and it was OK. I have tried to locate a ODB reader, but I have had not luck. It appears either the check engine light is burnt out or disconnected so it will not turn on. Does anyone have any ideas what might be wrong? from IP address 149.169.73.131 |

Strange intermittent overheatingby (no login)I have a '93 Hilux Surf 2.4 with some odd symtoms: Car's temp gauge occasionally shoots up from half way to just below the red (turn engine off at this point) within matter of seconds. In addition I am loosing coolant and have varying coolant levels in overflow (which occasionally leaks). - Granted this points to head issues, however hear me out: -There's no smoke -No oil in water or vice versa -No permanent power loss (jus occasional slow pull off) -Overheats only on low revs -Whenever car is run past 2000rpm temp gauge drops, again in seconds, back to half way!?! -Again this is just an intermittent fault. Don't know if this is related but symptoms occured just over a week after following were replaced with genuine brand new Toyota parts: -Timing belt/fan belts/tensioners/water pump/thermostat/all fluids/all filters. Was in devon over weekend and drove car around town (stopping and starting) in heat for about 1hr with no problems. Drove 170mile trip back last night with no issues until came off motorway and revs dropped. Topped up water this morning and ran with cap off until warm and drove 10 miles to work in traffic with no issues. I suspect a blockage or air lock of some sort in cooling system/rad which is causing back pressure into engine until revs are high enough to supply water pump with enough power to force through. Really confused - can anyone offer any advice? Cheers Ryan from IP address 157.84.1.3 |

Landcruiser sporadically wont start when hotby (no login)I have a 91 Landcruiser. Ran it for a while with no problems. I have had it towed about 7 times in the past 8 months. I stopped running it because of this. ONce it gets hot, it wont start. It will just click like a bad starter. Well, we have had the starter replaced, several fuses replaced, redid most of the wiring, replaced battery cables and we are still having the intermittent problem of starting when it is hot (even if the LC hasnt been started yet and the outside temp is over 100 degrees, it sometimes has problems starting). We have been to two different mechanic shops and one of them basically gave up, said there was nothing they could do about it, because they only experienced the problem with it once and couldnt do it again. The other shop kept it for several days and ran several diagnostics, hence replacing fuses, wiring, cables, etc and then the LC ran fine for about 1 month, and then started having probs again. I have since parked the LC and am running a difference truck now for the LC is so unreliable, and I have a 75 mile one way commute. We use the LC occassionally on the weekends to keep it from just sitting, but we only take it places where we dont have to shut it off, someone can stay in the vehicle, while the other person runs into the store really quick. Does anyone have any ideas?? We cannot figure out what is wrong with this and I would really like to get it reliable so we can do the off roading we wanted to do with it. from IP address 66.229.137.76 |
toyota hilux 2003 3.0lt td fuel consumptionby (no login)hi there, 2 weeks ago said goodbye to my 2000 hilux 4x2 2.7 l 5sp man and said hello to a 2003 3.0td, dual cab. had some extras with it, tbar, bull bar, side steps, snorkel, put a carryboy canopy, ordered a few extras to allow me to work and play. testing the fuel consumption, not happy, 60lt = 371 km. Now that is 16.17lt/100km or 6.18 km/ltr. getting more educated about diesels every day, but not convinced. i hear the turbo kick in but i also hear some weazing with the turbo. I did 50/50 city/country driving. some say air filter, fuel pump, turbo compression???, Its days away from expiring warranty, boys at toyota will have a look next week, but wanted to know your thoughts and how much does your 2003 lux drink? thank you! from IP address 121.44.134.194 |

Toyota Highlander Hybrid Synergy Driveby (no login)Every year, a panel of experts from the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC) vote for the best new automotive technology presented to them by manufacturers at their annual Test Fest in Shannoville, Ontario. The final entry for this year is Toyota's Hybrid synergy Drive (HSD) system in the 2006 Toyota Highlander. Toyota's Hybrid Synergy Drive system was first introduced in the Prius sedan. Now the Highlander is using this hybrid system. The HSD system has had a big impact on how vehicle buyers perceive hybrids, and as Toyota introduces it on more models, it will have a significant impact on the marketplace. The Highlander HSD is a series-parallel drive system. This means it can run on electricity alone, gasoline alone, or a combination of both of them. Three electric motors are used. Toyota refers to them as Motor/Generator units such as MG1 or MG2. Two of the MG units are located in the transaxle unit under the hood. Like a conventional vehicle, the transaxle is mounted to a gasoline engine, in this case a 3.3 litre DOHC V6 engine. A third electric motor/generator is mounted at the rear of the SUV and provides the driving force for the rear wheels. Using the combination of the three electric motors and the V6 gas engine, the Highlander produces 268 horsepower. The strong torque of the electric motors makes it seem like much more. Overall, the HSD system adds only 136 kg to the weight of the Hybrid Highlander compared to a conventional Highlander. The Cruiser returns…by (no login)Amidst all the gimmicky paraphernalia on all the latest passenger cars and SUVs, here comes a pure, simple, and functional vehicle, which just sticks to its job of performing without any inhibitions. The new Toyota FJ Cruiser is all set to give the original FJ Land Cruiser a run for its money. The FJ's engine, a 4.0-liter V-6 produces 245 horses and 282 lb-ft of torque. Like all Toyota SUVs, the FJ Cruiser With power, style, and off-road ability, the FJ also beats most other SUVs on safety features with standard stability control and available side and head curtain airbags. Toyota Camry: couldn’t ask for more!by (no login)In terms of reliability, crash tests, drivability, refinement, comfort, fuel economy and resale value, the Camry and Honda Accord are remarkably close. If the Accord betters the Camry in sportiness, the Camry boasts better comfort in the form of more agreeable ride quality and a quieter cabin. The Camry's four-cylinder is up to the task for most drivers' tastes, but Toyota doesn't pair the manual transmission with the V-6. 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiserby (no login)The 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser seats five. The front doors are standard, front-hinged doors. Rear-hinged access doors ease egress to the back seat and cargo area. Rear access to the cargo area is through a door hinged on the driver's side of the vehicle instead of a typical roof-hinged hatch-style closure. The FJ Cruiser is superb in rugged terrain but comfortable on the road. Its V6 engine is more powerful than those used in the Hummer H3 and Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon. The all-new 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser comes in just one model, but buyers can choose one of three drivetrains: A basic rear-wheel-drive version equipped with a five-speed automatic transmission, a part-time four-wheel-drive version with the same automatic transmission, or a full-time four-wheel-drive version with a six-speed manual transmission. The Toyota RAV4by (no login)For 2006, Toyota is trying to bring the RAV4 back into the limelight with new muscular styling, more power, and a larger interior and exterior. Toyota says the new RAV4's performance will be much improved over previous generations and that the compact SUV will have a larger, more modern interior. Starting to finally look like an SUV, the RAV4 will feature a wider track, the choice of either two- or four-wheel drive, a revised cabin with all-new gauges, and most importantly, a vastly improved powertrain in the form of a 3.5-liter, 268-horsepower V6.
