Geez, where do I start!

by (no login)

Right I'm a 21 year old in the UK and I've pretty much wanted a hilux since I can remember. I've actually got to the point in my life now where I can afford to get one. (restrains excitment)

I really want a Hilux Surf or 4 Runner but I don't know where to start! I also want to modify it a reasonable amount and would really appreciate any advice on the where I should start.

This is the only Website I can find specific to the Toyota's and if there are any others I would love to know!

Happy new year!

2000 4runner Tail Guard Grille

by (no login)

I went to the Toyota dealership today to ask about the front and tail light guard grille. He said to just get the front ones because they fit perfectly, however, the tail guard ones doesn't. Alot of customer complain how they scartch the back door. I was wondering if anyone had this problem. The brand they sell was Manik. I was wondering if other brands have the same problems.

Thanks

What is wrong with it?

I like the hood scoop. Too bad is the wrong color.

Shipping charge and painting the hood over probably
cost more then a new one....

ATTENTION all TOYOTA owners......................

by US Navy (no login)

[img][\img]

When you drive your Japanese SUV home tonight, have a silent moment for the innocent American lives that were lost during the sneak attack on Pearl Harbor, and for all of the lives this act of terrorism took in the years that followed.

Of all the inventions the Japanese have come up with over the years, the "sneak attack" is the most noteworthy.

Don't forget the Germans

by (no login)

I don't mind people remembering what the Japanese did to us in WWII. What I don't get is how the Germans got off the hook for their part in WWII. I wonder how many US NAVY sailors were lost to the Germany's U-Boats. Bet you it was a lot more than what was lost in Pearl Harbor!

This kind of reminds of an article I read in Autoweek about some guy saying he won't buy Japanese because what they did to us in WWII. Then he states he has no problem with buying a Mercedes. What an OXYMORON! Better yet, drop the OXY, and you get the general label for these type of people!

My Dad has forgiven the Japanese and the Germans for what they had done because it was war. By the way my Dad was guerilla fighter in the Philippines before he joined the US NAVY for 25 years. His message to all is "Get Over It!".

War is one thing.........................

by US Navy (no login)

........unprovoked sneak attack on a pretty Sunday afternoon is something else. So is human torpedos, Kamikazi, and using women and children.

What the Germans did was also terrible. That doesn't make what the Japanese did any better or worse.

There would be a lot more "sons" like you out there

by US Navy (no login)

living today...had it not been for the Japanese, and the fact that thousands of innocent "dads-to-be" had to die fighting a war that never needed to happen in the Pacific. The the two most notable things the Japanese actually invented are the "sneak attack" and the balance shaft.

You are lucky, your dad survived, and now you can go out and buy a TOYOTA. Hmmmmmmmm, kinda makes you feel a little strange once a year when December 7 comes around, eh?

Why keep on harpin on the Japanese?

by Son of WWII Vetran (no login)

Other Japanese inventions of note: Trinitron Picture Tube(Sony), VTEC(Honda)/VVTi(Toyota),Walkmans, etc. Last I check there quite a few a US patents being filed
by the Japanese Engineers. That's a lot more than we are! By the way I am an Electronics Engineer working in the private industry on Satellites.

German Inventions: V-1/V-2 Buzz Bombs, Blitzkriek,U-boats, Bismarck, and Killing POW's from behind(Battle of the Bulge).

Yes, I do consider myself lucky and I am sure the sons of many veterans of other wars do the same. I remember in 1996, on a return flight to the mainland from Hawaii, I met an elderly man who was a Pearl Harbor Veteran. Talking to his wife, I found out that he had not been back since the war. He harbored many ill feelings towards the Japanese. I started talking to him and told him of my background and family history. Over the course of five hours, he and I discussed the Japanese and their part in WWII. At the conclusion of the flight, he like my dad and thousands like them have learned to forgive.

I do not feel strange every time Dec. 7 rolls around or when I drive my Toyota any more than some person driving his Bimmer/Mercedes on date Germany attacked Poland. What I do feel is respect and to honor the men who died that day. For what they sacrificed, we are enjoying today. War is hell!

The truth let it be known, that we were suckered into WWII by Churchill and his accomplice FDR. History of the time shows England was hanging on by their fingernails against the Germans and was trying to get the U.S. involved. Churchill and Roosevelt concocted a plan to get the U.S. directly involved in the fighting by cattle prodding on the 3rd leg of the axis powers(Italy was insignificant). Their plan worked and the rest is History. I had a very excellent History Professor in college who didn't buy what they printed in the books.

I don't have a guilt complex on this...........

by USN (no login)

... Japan is the same culture, only 60 short years later.

Korea and China have a lot of similarities (and differences).

Lessons need to be remembered, not conveniently swept under the rug and forgotten "for convenience" and or personal vanity. Some of these lessons may be painful to remember.

Yes you can forgive, however, to FORGET a painful LESSON, especially one that cost that many lives is unconscionable.

I forgive the Japanese. I don't FORGET what they and their culture did to the world. Every time I see a band of agressive salesmen, I remember how that culture was prepared to (and did) give up 120,000 men for Iwo Jima, and would fight to the death, every man, woman, and child, if the mainland was attacked. Let's hope they are no longer so easily swayed, stampeeded, and possessed in the future. Lets also think about Korea, and China, which may be on a similar plane (national psyche) these days. Kind of makes you appreciate your Toyota, eh?

You're driving around in one of those pimp-mo-biles and probably never served one day of service to your country, and you're the one saying "get over it". Just drive off in your Mitsubishi dive bomber (or Toyota) and be happy with yourself. The rest of us want to remember history a bit, so it doesn't happen to us again from some other "rogue state"

more power

by anonymous (no login)

I have a buddy with a tricked out ford mustang. He's complained of performance issues at higher elevations. I'd look into a performance chip or something that enhances the air/fuel volume for your truck. This should be the key to power on the hills. Good luck

99 v6 in 94

by scott (no login)

A few considerations are in order - first everything is reversed.. the head has the exhaust on the opposite side, and the intake is opposite. So you'll need to route everything reversed in order to work.

The bell housing as well may hit. I've heard its bigger on the '96+ engines.

1999 TOYOTA 4RUNNER SR5 BEST CAR EVER!

by (no login)

On Augest 5,2000 I purchased the best car I have ever owned. You see i was in the market for an suv becouse the car i owned at the time was too small. My previous car was a 1997 Chevy Cavalier (white). And the car was allready fully paid for. So I went car shoping I first wnt to a toyota dealer closest to my house in La Mairada,Ca. The dealer was called toyota of buena park. There they had the friendlyest people. I told the sales person how much i was willing to spend. He showed me a Rav4 I sat in the car and I realized it was too small for me. So then we looked at the 4runner how ever it was over my price range. So then he showed me the certified pre-owned 4runners. Then I saw a black 1999 Toyota 4Runner SR5 with only 18,484 miles and couinsedentally the price was only 18,484. So I test drove it and I knew that was the car I wanted. After the test drive I went and we worked out a deal in the show room. 2 Hours later the deal was fineshed I drove home in a almost new 1999 Toyota 4Runner SR5. Its November of 2000 right now and I have never had to have taken it to the dealer for any service yet. And it is the best car I have ever Owned.

I just bought a JL stealthbox a few months ago (tan in color) and just installed it, but never connected the amp to it since I was waiting on my head unit. Anyway I'm getting rid of the 97 4runner and getting a bigger truck to pull my camper. It's for sale, never used, like new. Fits perfectly on the wheel well so you lose little room. I'll sell for $350.00. I may even be able to deliver it to you. I love a good road trip.

toyota recalled the v-6's because the head gasket was responsible for making the motor run hot/over-heat. read his recept & make sure he got a "new/rebuilt" motor...otherwise, it was just a head gasket change.

Fuel Consumption - Toyota Surf 3.0ltr Turbo Diesel

by Jay Porter (no login)

Mike,
I own a 1995 SSR-X 3.0ltr Turbo Diesel. Fuel consumption is a little heavy with the constant use of the turbo. I get about 9km to the litre or about 420-450km from a full tank.

Starter problems,"86"Celica

by (no login)

1986 Celica GTX 2.0 TwinCam
The car has a habit of not engageing the starter.
I now have a new starter with a wrap a round heat sheild on it, thinking the starter was getting hot from the maniflod. It is still doing it. I've had this problem for about a year. Somtimes when the starter does'nt engage, I rock the car just enough to turn the flywheel over. Then the starter will work. It has a new battery and cables and the new stater work the first 5 times, then it wouldnt engage. I tapped on the starter with a hammer and presto, it engaged. Could it be in a bind, or maybe pulled down to tight? Anybody else having this problem and figured out why?
Help appreaciated, Ron

Japanese OEM Parts...

by (no login)

Hello everyone,

I am interested in getting the clear front turn signal lenses and the clear corner lights. I understand there are the cheap ones and the Japanese OEM parts. If I decide on getting the Japanese OEM parts of the above mentioned, what do I look for to make sure that I have not been ripped off by whomever I purchase them from and end up getting the cheap ones when I paid for the Japanese OEM parts???

Thanks,
Steve

2001 4-runner

by sagar (no login)

I went to a dealership yesterday expecting to see this brand new looking 4-runner......boy was I wrong. Even though I saw the base model, everything was the exact same except for the tail lights. On the 3rd generation, the white part is frosty, and on the new ones it's clear, giving it that lexus-like look. Not worth changing out of my 99 Ltd. 4-runner.

T150

by Robert (no login)

The T150 was the name of the concept vehicle that is now the TUNDRA. Ford got mad at Toyota because the name, "T150," was too close to their,"F150." So Toyota made the production model of the T150 the Tundra.

What about the T150??????

by (no login)

To Whom It May Concern,

Hello, I was searching on the internet for new toyota trucks, and I found the new Toyota T150. It didn't have that much information about it, but it did have some pictures and a brief paragraph. I am looking in to buy a new truck, and I had the Tundra in mind, but since there's a T150 now, then it'll be it hopefully. I have a some of questions.

1. When is this truck going to be out for sale in the dealers?

2. Is there any certain websites for this new truck or other information I could get about it?

3. What is the estimated price for this truck?

Thank You.

Sincerely,
(one of the 1st buyers of truck)
