I can't believe no one told you!

If you have neuoropothy you don't have the feeling in your feet the way the rest of us do. You HAVE to wash your feet every night carefully checking for cuts, blisters, cracks even between your toes (never mind glass and splinters and nails!) and always keeping them well moisturized so you don't get cracks. If you get a hangnail, don't pull on it. You might ask your good doc for a good podiatrist or... ask her what to do.

See the thing is, being diabetic, you don't heal as fast and infections are more aggressive. That on top of not knowing immediately when you hurt yourself can be a life threatening event. I'm not trying to panic you, but but I am not exaggerating at all.

So never walk barefoot, always wear well fitting shoes and Check Your Feet!
