You know

March 28 2002, 10:12 PM

Way off in the distance.... Or maybe echoing through the back of my mind....

I hear the battle cry of the Legion. Greiz is calling us back. A new band of heros. Just one more run. Evil has survived. Only the Legion can dispose of it......

Let not those spears gather rust.
Give no rest to monster's heads that should bust.
To stand together again to fight or fall.
All pay heed to the battle call.

Our battle Cry is something like . . .

FOR THE GREATER GLORY OF THE LEGION

or

Huuuuuuuuuaahhhh!!

or

Die, Die, Time To Die . .

or the immortal battle cry of one Legionairre:

"Gulzar, You Idiot!!!!!"

But we never said Mooo . . . .

Painfully Stupid Legion variant Idea

April 3 2002, 3:12 PM

OK, here goes.

Reference Legion Rules.

Preferably no more than one of each class.

OchiD'Merc (and or other vets) rushes a crowd of Legionaire recruits through Normal. Pause before starting NM. OcchiD'Merc returns to Atma's Tavern to get drunk for an extended period.

Legionaire recruits then level up to 18 as quickly as possible in normal. Older Legionaires are allowed to assist them in this training. May only use what drops, aside from one spear apiece purchasable at Charsi. Once the minimum lvl 18 XP are achieved, STOP. 18th birthday, old enough to be drafted, or to enlist, etc. Bring "trainees" along during leveling.

No Twinking. None. "Closed team."

However, the legion will equip the new recruits from the proceeds of the training mission. The rush is as follows:

Den
Malus (No Cain, you must rescue him in NM only)
Andariel
Radament.
Cube.
Duriel
Bird.
Tome.
Meph.
Izzy.
Heph.
Diablo
Larzuk
Rescue.
Anya.
Baal. (no Ancients yet)

Starting equipment at beginning of the real adventure is purchased in Lut Gholein, or gambled from the proceeds of what ever drops during the rush and leveling to 18. (All drops during the rush be be sold for cash, as the Legion runs on Cash, unless it is one of the following.)

Chain Mail
Pike, spear, fork, etc.
Helm or Skull Cap.
Belt or Heavy Belt
Heavy Boots, or Chain Mail boots.
Heavy Leather or Chain Bloves

Those may be divvied up. All items not in the above categories must be sold to fund the operation.

Each Legionaire then purchases items in Lut from the above list. Or gambles it.

The Legion then begins their adventure in NM. Rings and amulets found may now of course be worn. The whole Variant game takes place in NM. From the first quest to end of NM. Everything that is not

Cracked
Low Quality

Must be be picked up and sold. The legion runs on profit.

At least one item per person must be gambled for at the end of each gaming session. Getting into gambling debts in not uncommon for mercenaries.

When Duriel, the bane of the Legion, is defeated in NM, the mercs may then be taken by Tyrael through a blue Portal into the north to consult with the Ancients. (Proceed to act V NORMAL and defeat the Ancients.) Then back to Lut, and off to Kurast, where the Ancients advised you is where the problem really lies. Proceed on to ultimate victory Over Baal in NM Mode.

What do you think? Too dumb for words?

Hey,

If you do this, count me in as one of the recruits. For the glory of Greiz!
