Regarding KT's experience playing at the Jester (folk night club) in Houston in the early '60s (which I alluded to in my post titled "Lost Memories"), I remember her telling Johnny the story of her leaving her apartment around the corner from the Jester to go play her gig. What's interesting is that she mentioned she lived in an apartment on Mid Lane (which I may add was also called "sin alley" by all of the high school kids then.) Living at that address was asking for trouble (or fun) as I remember. Her story was funny as she related that her duet partner, banjo-playing David Jones would pick her up on his motorcycle and take her around the corner to the Jester but they had to wait at a red light on the side of the busiest cruising street in Houston. She had just put on alot of hairspray on her hair as was the style then and had put a large brown paper bag over her head to protect it for the short ride. While waiting at the light, a guy next to them told David that "she may be ugly but she sure has great legs!" Knowing that area and the times, this was no doubt as true as any story ever told. Being a high school student at the time, I wonder what I would have thought if I had seen such a sight with a gal riding out of "sin alley" on a motorcycle like that?!
