Jeep Chick, I'm sorry, lol. I just re-read what I wrote and it is totally confusing. I'll explain.
When I arrived in the U.S. in '96, I'd taken a two month holiday. I wanted to do a road trip all over. So, I did. I have lots of family (military) here, and I figured if I didn't do it before I got settled I'd never have the opportunity. I was right about that.
My friend, Butch (the one I can't find since Katrina) :( wasn't married with children at the time. He picked me up in Birmingham. (To answer Question #1 :) I couldn't drive yet; I hadn't taken a U.S./State driver's examination. I couldn't do that until I arrived in NV. So he drove to MO to pick up another friend of ours, Mike (Bear.) So, they chauffered me through MO, KS, CO, UT onto Vegas. (They did let me pee, lol, and I did inform them when it became urgent!) Then they taught me to drive on the 'wrong' side of the road, haha! Then they drove back.
I did indeed see Denver, and was awake, but tired. I was asleep by the time we got to Grand Junction. I'd told the guys to wake me when we got there no matter what my condition. They did, and sunrise was coming on. It was just gorgeous. I was so jetlagged; Melbourne is basically 17 hours ahead.
So, I hope that explains everything, lol, I re-read my post and I was like, "Huh?"
There you have it. I've been in Vegas ever since. It's so not like what is always in the media. I drive through The Strip daily, but other than that, it's quite a nice city. When I moved here, I moved on what was the outskirts of town; now it's right off I-95 and the traffic is horrid. But I like my neighborhood. I don't know anyone who gambles, we go to work and live like everyone else. The Strip is just a tourist attraction, kind of like Disneyland I suppose.
Anyway Jeep Chick, thanks for helping me clarify myself :)
Do you live in CO? If so, how is it living there? I'd love to visit Ouray, that's how I came across this website.
I must get back to work (I've been on hold forever, am not anymore) so I'll chat with you later, have a lovely day!
