Sorry for the slow response. Took the kids camping this weekend and finally catching up. Tried to respond yesterday but appearently didn't take.
Thanks all for the welcomes!
Pueblo used to be a pretty rough, working class steel town. With the mill operating on coal, it also stunk to high heavens - used to call in pew-town growing up. They have since switched to electric and the sulfur stench is gone. With a downsizing of the mill and a pretty serious recession, the town has had to switch gears. It's turning into more of a bedroom community (particularly Pblo West) for Colo Spgs. Still has a nice little small town feel, housing costs are low and the farms (fresh produce) are just down the road. Good place to raise kids.
I know what you mean about the heat. Came home to 96 degs and with the river running so high that the humidity was almost reminiscent of the east coast. Blah! It's nice and cool now though and the winters are mucho mild. But you are right, the hail can get bad here - golfball size last year wiped out my watermelons!! We lived in Woodland Park for a couple of years, but my wife is big into gardening and there just wasn't enough summer for her. I used to tell her, 'if summer falls on a weekend this year, we'll have a picinic!'.
I do miss the mountian views though. Beautiful shot of the Sangre's. I reckon you are a little north and west of us with alot more altitude? Great country, I wish we could get up in the thin air more often. :)
Thanks for the response.
