I'm coming to Buena Vista as part of a road trip in late May with a couple friends. We should arrive May 25th. I've been looking at hikes and was wondering if Cottonwood Pass Road would still be covered in snow. If needed we can drive out in a 4 wheel drive vehicle. Also I was wondering if you know of any places where you can camp without being in a campground. Since I'm not familiar with the area I don't know where you need permits and such.
