Hey. :) I just wanted to jump in and introduce myself. I'm Jan, born and raised in Colorado Springs, now living in Jacksonville FL. I love this site because Steve usually showcases a place I'm connected to. I lived in Manitou for awhile, my sweet grammy has a cabin in Granite, I went to Adams State College in Alamose, my family is in the San Luis Valley... ahhh. *blissful recollection* lol! Anyway, I thought I'd miss home less the longer I've been gone. It's been 16 yrs now and I find I miss it MORE.
Anyway, a little about me. I turn 36 on Saturday!!, I'm a mom to an 11 yr old boy and 8 yr old girl, and my childhood sweetie (*swoon*) and I have been married for almost 17 yrs. :) I taught preschool for 13 yrs, but am between careers now and will return to school in the fall to get my degree in Psychology. In the meantime, I'm working at STARBUCKS because I'm addicted to espresso and I love the atmosphere. Every Thursday night, I have my coworkers over (all those young crazy college age kids) and we cook and watch The Office. I LOVE all of them so much and they call me the Starbucks Mama, even though I look at myself as more of a BIG SISTER. ;)
Once I finish my degree, I want to become a grief counselor for kids. I love music (I'm kind of an Elvis freak), writing, praying, cooking, handmade leather journals, office supplies (mainly PENS), chai, journals in general, my American Bulldog named Bogey Elvis Fudd, my neighbors acrosst he street but not the ones next to me (I'm working on that) and everything about Italy. I am planning two trips in my lifetime- one to GRACELAND (woo HOO!) and one to Tuscany.
I think that's it! I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone here, and maybe sharing some funny stories about my days at Starbucks. :)
whats your favorite thing at starbucks? I'm getting some units to teach preschool. Have you heard of pastoral crisis intervention? I don't think you need a degree for it though, www.icisf.org Welcome again!!!!!!! PS. why do you think they called it starbucks and not stardoes?
We live in south Florida...it is getting too busy/crowded here and the more we visit Colorado the more we love it there. We are hoping to move there soon.
We are in the process of looking for a lot to build on in the Divide area. Keep hearing about water contamination problems, though. Have you ever heard of any kind of water problems around the area??
How do you like life in Florida compared to Colorado? By the way, I love Manitou Springs!
