CNA Treatment

Response to Treatment of CNAs'

I do no know why or how, but nurses do not think. CNA's are their vital and personal link to each resident, we know when they are sick or acting differently, and unless that nurse will chart it, nothing will be done. Maybe on another shift, hopefully for the resident at the mercy of our care. I really do not understand people, if they apply to work at a nursing home, then they really should have, at least, a caring and PATIENCE, to deal with the elderly. Someone who understands what is is like to have nothing, to laugh with, to enjoy life with! If you really do not like other people, nursing is not the job for you. You have to know how to connect with all personalities, or at least get a person to trust you. You have to love life and all of the people around you.

I have had some nurses treat me like ****, and others treat me like gold, because we both cared about our residents. There is no "Caring 101" in Nursing school, so be patient with new nurses, maybe you can show them the resident's side of life. That is why I have been a CNA for 10 years, I understand a resident's point of view, and I try to make it a better experience. WHY? I will never know, but I go home happy and always rest well.
